Two WCS Fine Arts students earned national recognition through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
Ovi Davis, sophomore, earned a National Gold Medal for her photograph, "Under Sole," and a National Silver Medal for her photograph, "Untitled." Amy Cunningham, Photography teacher, earned a National Educator Award in conjunction with Ovi's award.
AJ Nagabhushan, sophomore, earned a National Silver Medal for her Fiber Arts project, Ex Libris "De Scribendo": A discussion of literasy in adjunction to the colonization of bloodlines and the textile industry - the culmination of language from biblio to bible. Megan St. Clair earned a National Educator Award in conjunction with AJ's award.
More than 80,000 students submitted nearly 230,000 works of art and writing. Only 2,000 works received a National Medal, which places our students in the top 1% of submissions.
Congratulations to Ovi and AJ, and thank you to Amy Cunningham and Megan St. Clair for their work with our students! We are so proud!
