We are excited to extend our biggest congratulations to eight students from the Class of 2025 who have earned National Merit Recognition! All seven students were recognized as National Merit Commended Scholars. This honor was calculated by determining the top 2.5% scores (36,513 students) out of the almost 1.5 million juniors in the United States who took the PSAT assessment last October. In the state of Kansas this recognition is shared with only 149 students from 56 schools. We are so proud to have found such a good percentage of our senior class among those honored. The students earning the honor are Samuel Brittain, Shouvik Dev, Diana Eldika, Omar Hamada, Jalili Hemphill, Harry Ling, Hannah Ternes, and Nicolas Zayat.
The senior class as a whole should also be celebrated for their impressive results on last year’s PSAT. As mentioned before, the assessment was taken by nearly 1.5 million college-bound junior students in the United States, meaning that the students who took this test are already within a selective group of individuals who place a high value on education. The average national assessment score for this driven group of students was 975. The average PSAT score for the Collegiate class of 2025 was 1150. This score was 11.5% higher than that of the national average. 84% of our juniors scored above the national average on the composite (math and English) score. 81% percent scored above the national average on the English portion of the exam and 88% percent scored above the national average on the Math portion of the test.
Head of Upper School Gaby White shared these remarks during the school’s celebration of our National Merit Scholars, “At Collegiate, we understand how hard each of our students and faculty members work every day, how committed they are to being their best, and while one test cannot accurately tell the story, the success achieved by this class is something to be very proud of. Congratulations to the Class of 2025!”
During our celebratory morning meeting, we announced and celebrated each scholar in front of their peers, teachers, and parents. Head of School Nathan Washer then met each honoree on stage to shake their hands and offer his congratulations as we presented our National Merit Scholars to the crowd. Mrs. White closed the celebration by recognizing “the parents and family members for their constant support and commitment to the education of their children.” Congratulations, Spartans, we love cheering you on with each goal met, knowing that the Class of 2025 is just getting started!
